Nebbiolo variety finds its cradle in the areas of Alba, Langhe in the province of Cuneo. The name comes from two different assumptions: the first refers to the frost on the skins of the ripe fruits, as if they were covered with fog. (fog = nebbia in Italian) . The second goes to the harvest season, the later harvest, the fog season in the valleys of the Langhe region. The first mentions called the variety Nibiol, which is preserved in the chronicles of 1268, which is a variety that was located near the city of Turin. In the early years of the seventeenth century, red varieties grown in Piemonte were crossed.
