Detailed information

Product detailed description

Autochthonous white wine from the  Roero, located in a hilly  area  Govone 200-300 m.a.s.l. , on sunny vineyards, falling within the Roero DOCG oblate. The vineyards are managed by the Gujot system. The planting density is around 5000 pieces. The average yield is 1 kg. The subsoil is mainly sandy and calcareous. Production takes place in a stainless steel tank, first maceration without skins and subsequent fermentation at a controlled temperature. Aging takes place in the bottle.

White dry wine, which is suitable as an aperitif,  combines well with appetizers and white risotto, as well as with all fish and shellfish dishes or with not very mature cheeses. Deeper straw yellow to yellow color, intense aroma with notes of tropical fruit (pineapple, banana, white peach, apricot). The taste is very delicate, elegant with a long fruity finish.  We recommend letting it rest before serving and serving up to 15-20 minutes after opening. The wine is very structured, suitable for a more demanding consumer.

Arneis  is a variety grown in  Piemonte, since 1478. In the 18th century, the variety was spread throughout the Roero area. However, in vinification, it was not a wine as we know it now, a white dry wine, but a sweet wine, as it was in high demand for the given period. Not only that: in the vineyards, the white Arneis vine was alternating with the red Nebbiolo vine, which had the effect of attracting birds from the vineyard, where there was only the red variety, and thus preventing damage to the vineyards. The commercial success of the Arneis variety dates back to the 1930s, consumers' tastes are beginning to be oriented towards white dry wines, fresh, fruity and easy to drink. The Arneis grape is medium - smaller, pyramidal in shape, with one or two  wings, compact, greenish-yellow in color or yellow-grey, depending on the orientation to the sun. Graduation is roughly in the third decade of September.  Wine is demanding mainly for its vinification. Straw yellow in color, with aromas of flowers, herbs, white fruit, full in taste, with pronounced acidity, in the end it can be  notes of bitter almonds. In the past, it was added to Barbera or Nebbiolo red wine to soften the taste.

Why do I like it?

Suitable for the more demanding consumer who appreciates the autochthonous varieties of Italy.

Manufacturer

Excellent winemakers from the region of Piemonte, Northern Italy. Produttori di Govone is a wine cooperative (Cooperativa)  with a clear idea  for the production of wine, which represents the main wine-growing area.La Cantina Sociale di Govone  was founded in 1957, from the idea of Giovanni Dalmasso, a prominent figure in  winemaking, who  is the true expression of a clear  idea of strengthening the hills of the Langhe region, capable of producing very high quality wines from grapes. The winemakers at that time, led by Vittorio Caude, understood the importance of this connection and began to defend the true value of the grapes from the market.About 250 current members  they give their grapes from different places of Langa Asti and Alba and  they represent the real engine of the Produttori di Govone. The Govone producers have always dedicated  attention to changes in the market, where there are three properties that are different from each other : the point of sale, representing the basis and reconstruction in the 90s, the marriage of wine and food  and of course emphasis on the quality of the product. In the first years of the new century , the producers of Govone took a collaborative perspective: after the merger with Cantina Sociale di Portacomaro, they started a partnership with Cantina Sociale di Valtiglione, which sells the products. the growth of Barbera. The producers of Govone and Barbera have a strong bond that they brought from the cellar of the main producers of the type Barbera d'Alba DOC. The market recognizes the quality of wine signed by the winery, which offers not only in  Italy, as well as abroad, in Denmark, the USA, China, Poland and Germany. Equilibrium between quality and price in the various production lines suggested a division into exposures of vineyards, selection of grapes, compliance with the taste of the wine and the improvement of the wine regions from which the individual members of the consortium come.
