Product detailed description
Sauvignon, which is popular all over the world for its aromatic, lively and fresh character, is today one of the most popular wines not only in Europe, but also in South America, Australia and New Zealand. This variety is universal, appreciated for the possibility of producing wines of different styles and qualities depending on the methods and territories of origin.
In Italy there are several wineries that produce respectable Sauvignons; they come mainly from Friuli and Alto Adige and express the great potential of these territories.
The color of the wine is intense straw yellow. The aroma is penetrating, with fresh notes of gooseberry and pear, typical of Sauvignon from the Friuli region. The taste of the wine is distinctive, rich, full, with typical notes of fruit, citrus with fresh acidity. This wine is supplied in a 1.0 liter package. We recommend serving with appetizers, vegetable salads, poultry, it is excellent with Gorgonzola cheese, or with selected fruit salads.
In Italy, Sauvignon wines are characterized by a great variety of styles and aromas. The aroma is intense and the olfactory and gustatory impression very strong; these characteristics of the wine are obviously more or less emphasized depending on the terroir in which it is produced, the climate and the method of vinification. The flexibility and ability of these grapes to successfully express the place where they are grown are probably the characteristics that more than any other have contributed to the great growth and spread of Sauvignon Blanc in the world. In general, Sauvignon can be defined as a fresh fruity wine of a straw yellow color with greenish highlights. It is soft, velvety and harmonious in the mouth, and at the same time shows excellent persistence.
Many varieties go well with Sauvignon. It goes well with fish in the first and second courses, white meats, soups, risottos, vegetables, they are also perfect with cheese. Sauvignon is also excellent as an aperitif. Sauvignon is an ancient French variety, probably originating from the Bordeaux region. Sauvignon requires very good slope positions of the vineyard, good breathability of the soil and higher humidity. Depending on the location of the vineyard, the year and of course the wine production technology, the taste varies significantly. In more northerly regions and with higher humidity, grassy, nettle, and peppery notes are created in the aroma and taste. With a higher proportion of sun and better ripeness of the grapes, the taste is more fruity, for example gooseberry, kiwi, with hints of lemon. Then, in the case of softer and rounder wines, the flavor is more peach, apricot, nectarine and melon. From overseas, we can mainly encounter notes of tropical fruit. Sauvingons are mainly aperitif wines, for cold appetizers, with asparagus, with goat cheese. Fuller and more mature wines can also be paired with spicy dishes, strong cheeses such as gorgonzola, or fish sauces.
Why we like it
Sauvignon will be appreciated by fans of aperitif wines with strong aromas and flavors. Sauvignon is very reflective of the region where it is grown. Very often there are tastings focused mainly on this variety.
