Detailed information

Product detailed description

A grape variety that has found its favorite territory on the Tuscan coast: the proximity to the sea contributes to the spicy and thirst-quenching nature of this wine. Easy-drinking and dynamic, Vermentino Cacciagrande surprises the palate with its persistence of fresh sour fruit such as green apple, notes of aromatic herbs and citrus notes, and is ideal for a light dinner or a cool summer evening. In the 19th century, the area underwent a major reclamation and became a highly sought-after area for vineyards. The sea air on one side and the mountain massif on the other side have a very nice effect on the quality of the grapes from this area. Very small winery Cacciagrande in the Maremma Toscana region, a seaside area in the Tuscany region near the town of Castiglione di Pescaia or the larger city of Grosseto.

Vermentino is a fresh wine from the seaside region of Maremma Toscana with a straw yellow color. In the aroma there are penetrating fruity tones of apple, white peach and citrus. These fruity notes are predominant in the taste.  The wine goes well with seafood dishes. Vermentino is known for its versatility and goes well with a variety of dishes. Thanks to its refreshing acidity and medium body, it pairs well with seafood, fish, vegetable dishes, light cheeses and even some local specialties such as cacciucco soup. Vermentino is certainly one of the most prized white grape varieties in our beautiful country and is widespread in Sardinia, Liguria and Tuscany. Its origin is still not completely known, but the main hypothesis is that it comes from Spain. It then spread to some French regions such as Languedoc-Roussillon, where it is known as Malvoisie Pr?coce d'Espagne, and Corsica, where it is the most cultivated white vine. From these areas, the vine made its way to Italy, originally to Liguria. Evidence indicates that in the nineteenth century its cultivation was particularly widespread in the far west of the region. Mainly in Ventimiglia and San Remo and in the Far East, in Sarzana. The spread of Vermentino to Sardinia and Tuscany also began from there. First in the hills at the foot of the Apuan Alps, in the province of Massa-Carrara and then in the Maremma region. It is here that Vermentino with Carpinet finds a wonderful expression, which allows us to grasp all the typical varietal nuances and differences compared to other national manifestations. Vermentino Valcolomba is actually a Mediterranean wine. A character that, thanks to its identifying terroir that defines its organoleptic profile, combines all its aspects with the features of this land. Its fermentation is carried out with selected yeasts and takes place slowly and at low temperatures. The color is straw yellow with greenish and golden reflections. The aroma shows notes of pear and grapefruit, herbal Mediterranean scrub and thyme, all on a slightly sweet background. The taste is dry, fresh and mineral. Reminiscent of saltiness, it remains in balance between delicacy and freshness and brings long-lasting pleasure from tasting it.  A wine with a fresh and versatile character that goes well with all the moments that accompany our moments of hospitality, from the aperitif to the end of the meal, in the name of the typical character of the Tuscan Maremma!
