Pecorino – A Traditional Italian Grape Full of Freshness
Pecorino is an Italian white grape variety cultivated in the regions of Marche, Abruzzo, Tuscany, Umbria, and Lazio. It is believed to originate from the Marche region. The cultivation of this grape is documented as far back as the late 19th century. Later, the variety was displaced by more modern grapes. In the 1980s, it was said that only one vineyard with this variety remained. By the end of the 20th century, Pecorino had regained its popularity, and today there are more than twenty wines on the market, many of them classified as DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) or DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita).
