Pecorino – A Traditional Italian Grape Full of Freshness
Pecorino is an Italian white grape variety cultivated in the regions of Marche, Abruzzo, Tuscany, Umbria, and Lazio. It is believed to originate from the Marche region. This variety was already being grown in the late 19th century. Later, it was replaced by more modern varieties. In the 1980s, it was said that only one vineyard of this variety remained. By the end of the 20th century, Pecorino regained popularity, and today there are more than twenty wines on the market, many of them classified as DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) or DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita).
